The Starr Hill Pathways Program (SHP) aims to address educational inequities in the Charlottesville-Albemarle region by providing social, technical, and research infrastructure. Beginning in 7th grade, SHP offers a comprehensive support system for local youth from historically marginalized communities, guiding them towards admission to the University of Virginia or the college that aligns with their aspirations.
The Ai lab is proud to collaborate with the Starr Hill Pathways Program, hosting a cohort of local youth for a two-day research experience focused on fluorescent proteins. Through this engagement, we aim to expose these students to the pathway of becoming scientists, nurturing their interest in scientific research.
We thank Kyle, Mustry, Franklin, and Wenyuan for their invaluable support during this event. Their contributions were instrumental in its success. We look forward to the possibility of organizing this event again next year.
