Dr. Littlewood is an Assistant Dean in the School of Medicine and his duties include Directorship of the University of Virginia (UVA) Simulation Education Alliance and Clinical Skills Center. He has been a member of the department since 1999 and has previously served as Clerkship Director and Program Director.

Passionate about education and social justice, Dr. Littlewood says, “I am proud to have spent my professional life in public hospitals caring for every patient that needs our help. The privilege of educating tomorrow’s healthcare providers gives me great satisfaction and fulfillment.”

Dr. Littlewood has been a member of the American Board of Anesthesiology OSCE Committee since its inception, and now serves as Subcommittee Chair. He is active in the international simulation community, especially through multiple positions in the Society for Simulation in Healthcare and as a member of the American Society for Anesthesiologists’ Simulation Education Editorial Board. He has been honored as UVA’s Master Educator, the UVA Department of Anesthesiology Outstanding Educator, the MCV John R Jones Outstanding Educator, and inducted into UVA’s prestigious Academy of Distinguished Educators. While Dr. Littlewood enjoys mountain biking, flatwater kayaking, woodworking, and hiking, he most cherishes time with his family.
