Yesterday, the Center for Behavioral Health and Technology participated in the United Way Day of Caring in Charlottesville<\/a>. The\u00a0United Way Day of Caring\u00a0is a yearly event that takes place each September and was established in 1992 to promote the spirit and value of volunteerism, increase the awareness of local human service agencies and schools, and demonstrate what people working together for the community\u2019s good can accomplish.<\/p>\n

Eleven of us gathered to promote awareness and help raise funds for a foundation that fills a gap in the Charlottesville Community. The Yellow Door Foundation gives families a safe, convenient home away from home while they fight serious childhood illness at UVA Children\u2019s Hospital. Yellow door fills a specific niche for immunocompromised children, typically those fighting cancer and organ transplants, to stay for whom communal living is not an option.<\/p>\n

We loved the opportunity to get out of our offices and support the Yellow Door Foundation<\/a>.<\/p>\n
