She practiced as a registered nurse (RN) in both acute and critical care settings prior to pursuing her PhD, which is where she developed her research interests in gerontology, cognitive health, and health equity. Her continued commitment to providing care to underserved and aging communities drives her research and teaching interests. Dr. Mattos&#8217;s research focuses on the prevention and management of cognitive impairment in older adults with a focus on scalable behavioral interventions. Her research focuses on prevention of dementia in older adults with mild cognitive impairment, sleep in older adults at risk for dementia, and use of technology in preventive health.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Mattos received her Ph.D. from University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing and a Health Equity Certificate from University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Public Health.
