Isaiah is a graduate student in the Medical Scientist Training Program
Ashley Woodard, Director of Student Engagement and Strategic Partnerships shared these words in her nomination of Isaiah:
“Isaiah consistently demonstrated outstanding dedication, leadership, and initiative beyond what was expected in their role with the Office of Medical Sciences Outreach. For two years, Isaiah served as a mentor for the Summer Medical Leadership Program (SMLP) in the School of Medicine. Isaiah is consistently someone our office can rely on. Mentorship runs in Isaiah’s blood. It truly does. Whenever I ask him to assist with a panel for pre-med students or speak with students who are interested in medicine or the biomedical sciences, Isaiah is quick to say “yes” and provide assistance. He is also incredibly thoughtful in his responses – offering pre-med students real, unfiltered advice about what it takes to be a physician-scientist. Isaiah’s dedication and engagement only lifts up his mentees, and any other pre-med students who have the opportunity to engage with him. His efforts have directly improved SMLP participants’ satisfaction with the program.”
