But, to inspire a new generation of girls to consider careers in science, she\u2019s also created TreeTop Barbie and even dueled with Barbie\u2019s manufacturer, Mattel, over the doll (Mattel let her keep producing TreeTop Barbie on a very limited basis.) In 2018, National Geographic teamed with Mattel to produce a line of \u201cExplorer Barbies\u201d and enlisted Nadkarni as a scientific adviser. Mattel\u2019s series of new dolls focused on exploration and science debuts in fall 2019. Nadkarni most recently talked at Medical Center Hour in September 2016.
