Dan Boesch, a postdoctoral researcher in the Weaver Lab, was recently honored with the Outstanding Presentation Award at the 25th Annual Midwest DNA Repair Symposium. Dan’s presentation described how DNA Ligase IIIα recognizes and resolves DNA breaks within chromatin. Using cryo-electron microscopy, his work is illuminating how the cell’s repair machinery navigates the highly compacted chromatin environment to maintain genomic integrity. This award reflects the clarity and significance of this research, and highlights the exciting contributions emerging from the Weaver Lab.
Dan’s participation was supported by a UVA Cancer Center Trainee Travel Grant, which enabled him to share his research with the broader DNA repair community.
