CRX Program Welcomes Kelsey Kubelick, PhD
UVACCC welcomes Kelsey Kubelick, PhD, Assistant Professor of Biomedical Engineering, to its Cancer Therapeutics Research Program. Dr. Kubelick uses light, sound, nanoconstruct design, and cellular engineering to develop advanced theranostic imaging. She focuses on ultrasound and photoacoustic (PA) technologies, which combine acoustic and optical methods to achieve deep, optical contrast by using pulsed laser light to generate sound waves.
She leads the K2 BioImaging Collective, a research group that develops ultrasound and PA imaging tools to deliver cellular, molecular, and functional insights with diagnostic feedback. While broadly applicable, her research focuses on improving cancer immunotherapies by monitoring adoptive T cells.
Dr. Kubelick earned her BA in biological sciences from the University of Chicago, her MEng in biomedical engineering from Duke University, and her PhD in biomedical engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology, where she also completed for her postdoc. She enjoys fly fishing and training for triathlons.
