GEN Program Welcomes Sheng’en Shawn Hu, PhD
UVACCC welcomes Sheng’en Shawn Hu, PhD, Assistant Professor of Genome Sciences and Public Health Sciences, to its Molecular Genetics and Epigenetics Research Program.
Dr. Hu uses bioinformatics to study epigenetics and transcriptional regulation across cancer types. His work focuses on: 1) integrative analysis with single-cell multiome data to explore the function of Chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell in cancer immune therapy; 2) developing quantitative models and computational methods for analyzing high-throughput sequencing data and imaging data at single-cell levels; and 3) applying bioinformatics to study epigenetics in diverse biological systems.
Dr. Hu earned his PhD from Tongji University in Shanghai and completed postdoctoral research in the lab of Associate Professor of Genome Sciences Chongzhi Zang, PhD. He continued in the lab as a research scientist before becoming a Research Assistant Professor of Genome Sciences in 2024.
