GEN Program Welcomes Tyler Weaver, PhD
UVACCC welcomes Tyler Weaver, PhD, Assistant Professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Genetics, to its Molecular Genetics and Epigenetics Research Program.
Dr. Weaver studies how cells repair DNA damage within chromatin and aims to develop targeted therapies for DNA-repair deficient cancers. His lab combines biochemistry, single-molecule fluorescence microscopy, structural biology, and cell biology to investigate chromatin-based DNA repair.
He earned his BS from Florida State University, PhD from the University of Iowa, and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Kansas Medical Center, where he studied the interplay between chromatin structure and DNA repair. In his free time, Dr. Weaver enjoys exploring Charlottesville with his fiancé and spending time with their four feline children.
