Who We Serve

The communities UVA Comprehensive Cancer Center serves extend well beyond the Charlottesville area and the state of Virginia. We currently serve 3.2 million people across 87 counties extending to the westernmost point in the state and into West Virginia, with many residing in rural areas.

A map of Virginia and West Virginia highlights the 87 counties UVA serves, covering Charleston and roughly one-third of West Virginia in the state's southeast, and approximately the western two-thirds of Virginia, from Frederick county in the north, Stafford County in the east, to the state's southern border from Halifax County westward.

UVACCC’s work directly supports both patients seen by UVA Health clinicians, and individuals who live in the area served. Throughout the region, UVACCC Community Outreach and Engagement builds outreach partnerships focused on fostering awareness of cancer risks and improving access to screening and care.
