Cancer Disparities Symposium 2026 LogoUVACCC invites member faculty and trainees from all its research programs to join us for the Cancer Disparities Symposium Sept. 23 and 24, 2026 in Newcomb Hall.

This year’s two-part event will highlight innovation across the full research continuum, from basic and translational science to population and community-engaged research, with a focus on understanding and eliminating cancer disparities, featuring:

  • The latest on UVACCC’s catchment area and its disparities
  • Cutting-edge findings from colleagues working at every stage of the translational pipeline
  • How your work connects to the communities we serve

The event will also feature a town hall examining cervical cancer disparities, sessions highlighting community partner programs, and a Cancer Center trainee next-generation scientific communications infographic reception.

Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2:30-6 p.m.: Cervical Cancer Town Hall
A focused discussion on cervical cancer disparities in UVA’s catchment area bringing together researchers, community members, advocates, and providers to identify challenges and opportunities for change.

Thursday, Sept. 24, 8:30 a.m.-2:45 p.m.: Cancer Disparities Symposium
A broader examination of cancer disparities across cancer types, with research presentations spanning cancer types, research disciplines, and strategies to address disparities including community-engaged initiatives.
