Center for Excellence in Education Welcomes Dana Sox, PhD!

We’d like to extend a warm welcome to the newest member of the UVA Center for Excellence in Education, Dana M. Sox, PhD!  Dr. Sox officially started on 5/18/26 as Medical Education Research Manager.  Dana’s primary responsibilities involve the support of faculty in their development and dissemination of educational scholarship.

headshot of a woman outisdeDr. Sox is a researcher, educator, and collaborative scholar with expertise in mixed-methods research, program evaluation, and the study of supportive relationships across developmental and educational contexts. She earned her doctorate in Educational Psychology and Applied Developmental Science from the University of Virginia, where she developed deep methodological expertise while partnering with faculty across multiple research projects, from conception through dissemination. Before her doctoral studies, she spent six years as a high school educator, an experience that grounds her approach to educational scholarship in the realities of practice. She also possesses a BS in Mathematics and a Master of Teaching in Secondary Education, both from the University of South Carolina. In her role as Medical Education Research Manager, Dana looks forward to supporting individuals at every stage of the scholarly process, from developing research questions and navigating IRB processes to writing for peer-reviewed publication.
