Services

The Clinical Research Unit maintains a full time staff of 2 registered nurses experienced in the nursing care of research subjects.  They are supplemented with additional resources as needed via a prn pool of nurses, sleep techs, lab techs, CNAs, and EMTs.   The staff is in place to facilitate the research-required study procedures required for study visits conducted in the outpatient unit on Collins 3, or in an out-patient clinic. The staff will conduct the applicable research visits in accordance with the protocol.  Services can include (but are not limited to):

 

    • Subject assessment (within the confines of licensure/certification of the assigned staff member)
    • IV line insertion
    • Phlebotomy
    • Vital signs
    • Drug administration
    • Serial blood drawing
    • Point of care testing
    • Subject monitoring
    • ECG collection
    • Continuous cardiac monitoring
    • Spirometry
    • QOL questionnaire administration
    • Blood sample processing
    • Sleep monitoring
