For more than 35 years, the Perinatal\u00a0Continuing Education Program (PCEP)
\nhas enhanced the knowledge and skills\u00a0of physicians, nurses, nurse midwives, respiratory therapists,
\nand other providers of care for pregnant women and newborns. \u00a0The PCEP, 3rd edition workbooks have been brought up-to-date\u00a0with leading-edge procedures and techniques.<\/p>\n

AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)\u2122, or ANCC contact hours and hours of participation are available to all perinatal health care professionals: physicians, nurses, respiratory therapists, nurse practitioners, nurse midwives, and all others who care for pregnant women or newborns based on their accreditation bodies.<\/p>\n

The American Medical Association\u2019s AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)\u2122 (CME credits) are available to physicians.\u00a0 ANCC contact hours are available to nurses, nurse practitioners, and nurse midwives.\u00a0 Hours of participation are available to respiratory therapists and any other healthcare professional that provide care to pregnant women or newborn babies for submission to their professional organizations to satisfy their continuing education requirements.<\/p>\n

Accreditation and Designation Statement<\/em><\/p>\n

The University of Virginia School of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing education for physicians.<\/p>\n

The University of Virginia School of Medicine designates this enduring material for a maximum of 54 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)\u2122.<\/em> Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.<\/p>\n

The University of Virginia School of Medicine awards 54 hours of participation (equivalent to AMA PRA Category 1 Credits\u2122<\/em>) to each non-physician participant who successfully completes this educational activity. The University of Virginia School of Medicine maintains a record of participation for six (6) years.<\/p>\n

The University of Virginia School of Nursing is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center\u2019s Commission on Accreditation.<\/p>\n

The University of Virginia SONCE awards 54 contact hours for nurses who participate in this educational activity and complete the post activity evaluation.<\/p>\n

\u00a0How to Earn CME Credits, ANCC Contact Hours or Hours of Participation<\/h4>\n

To prepare for the book exam each PCEP participant should study the material of each unit and then take the practice unit test for that unit.\u00a0 Practice unit tests can be repeated as many times as desired.\u00a0 No fee is charged for completion of these tests but you must be registered on the website.\u00a0 When ready to take the book exam click on the link to \u2018Book Exam and Certificate\u2019.\u00a0 Participants must pay the $15 fee prior to starting the book exam.<\/p>\n

After passing the book exam at a level of 80% correct or greater, PCEP participants must choose to Display Certificate and print it at that time, otherwise they will not have access to their\u00a0certificate at a later point.\u00a0 The certificate lists the number of hours of participation or CME credits earned.<\/p>\n

Credit breakdown by PCEP book:<\/p>\n

14.5 hours for Book I: Maternal and Fetal Evaluation and Immediate Newborn Care
\n15.5 hours for Book II: Maternal and Fetal Care
\n16.5 hours for Book III: Neonatal Care
\n7.5 hours for Book IV: Specialized Newborn Care
\n54.0 TOTAL CREDITS<\/p>\n

  1. CME credits, ANCC contact hours or hours of participation will be granted only for books with a copyright date of 2017. The book copyright date is given on the reverse side of the title page in each book.<\/li>\n
  2. Each learner needs to register at this website www.cmevillage.com<\/a> so they can access the complimentary practice unit tests associated with the educational units as they progress through each book.\u00a0 As learners complete the practice unit tests they may access the online exam.\u00a0\u00a0 There is a separate exam (and cost) for each online exam attempted.\u00a0 Prior to taking the exam for each book learners can take practice unit tests as many times as necessary<\/strong> to master the subject material.\u00a0\u00a0 CME credit, ANCC contact hours or hours of participation are given for completion of the book exam at a passing rate of 80% and certificates are also available for printing online.<\/li>\n
  3. NOTE:<\/span> Please do not pay for or start an exam<\/span> unless you have time to complete and submit it.\u00a0 Once you start either a (practice) unit post-test or book exam you cannot stop and save your work or suspend progress.
