Arthur Weltman, Ph. D. is the faculty director of the lab. This facility is devoted to excellence in research in exercise physiology and metabolism encompassing a wide range of diverse studies in children, young, middle age and older adults.\u00a0\u00a0 Current study populations include subjects with Parkinson\u2019s, cardiovascular disease, heart failure, multiple sclerosis, type 1 and 2 diabetes, and\/or morbid obesity. The laboratory includes several metabolic carts for collection of basal and exercise-associated metabolic data. Interfaced with each metabolic cart is a computer-linked bicycle ergometer and treadmill, and an EKG machine. The lab also includes a BOD POD for determination of body composition, and a metabolic system for measurement of resting metabolism.
