During FY 2015,\u00a0the division saw an <strong>18% increase in patient volume<\/strong> and a substantial expansion of all its clinical activities, due largely to the addition of new faculty members. They include Nicholas Intagliata, MD, in hepatology; Ashley (Mary) Overby, NP, in the inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) clinic; and\u00a0Daniel Strand, MD, in the advanced therapeutic endoscopy (interventional) area.<\/p>\n<p>At the start of FY 2016 (i.e., summer 2015), additional faculty members joined GI\u2019s ranks: Andrew Copland, MD, a former UVA fellow who specializes in IBD and small bowel disease; another addition in hepatology, Zachary Henry, MD (also a former UVA fellow); and Cynthia Yoshida, MD, whose focus is general GI and endoscopy.
