From leading interdisciplinary teams to pursuing organizational change while navigating demanding organizational and regulatory environments within academic health centers, faculty must develop expertise that is often distinct from the their traditional roles and responsibilities. Faculty have been prepared to excel as clinicians, researchers, and educators, but formal leadership training has rarely been part of their formal training or preparation. Fortunately, leadership development programs can help bridge the gap. Through leadership development programs, faculty can explore who they want to be as leaders and have opportunities to develop the competencies they\u2019ll need to lead effectively in academic medicine.<\/p>\n<p>On this site you\u2019ll find UVA affiliated leadership development programs including the award-wining Leadership in Academic Matters program.<\/p>\n<p>Also included are a few external opportunities.
