There were 19 abstracts related to undergraduate medical education (UME), 6 abstracts related to graduate medical education (GME), 2 abstracts related to continuing medical education (CME) and 1 abstract describing a study of the impact of the ADE medical education grants program.\u00a0 This year, there was a particular emphasis on posters in the area of the pre-Clerkship portion of the medical curriculum as well as 5 posters in the area of Interprofessional Education, a hot new area of emphasis in medical education.\u00a0 Medical students were first authors on at least 2 of the posters.<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"internal-link\" href=\"https:\/\/virginia.box.com\/s\/dj6qk27mu5rh8813s61ij9mwz3sm4x89\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Click here<\/strong><\/a> to access the index of posters presented and the poster abstracts.<\/p>\n<p>This year\u2019s poster session was part of an inclusive Medical Education Week of activities.\u00a0\u00a0 Dr. Molly Cooke, MD, Professor of Medicine and Director of the Academy of Medical Educators, University of California at San Francisco, was the special invited guest and the 3rd recipient of the Anne L. Brodie Medical Education Scholar Award.\u00a0 As a part of this award, Dr. Cooke visited UVa SoM for two days and met with many groups at the School of Medicine in addition to presenting the Medical Center Hour talk on March 7th on the subject of &#8220;Preparing the Physician of 2030 \u2013 We\u2019re Doing It Now, Are We Doing It Right.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0The annual ADE social event was held on that same Wednesday evening, March 7th, to honor Dr. Cooke as well as all of the UVa faculty, residents and students involved in medical education research and curriculum innovation; both Dean Steven DeKosky and Dr. Cooke made remarks about medical education. In addition, Dean DeKosky introduced Dr. Casey White, the new Associate Dean for Medical Education, Research and Instruction.<\/p>\n<p>The goals of the reception and the poster session were to highlight the medical education research and curriculum innovations currently being conducted at the School of Medicine and to increase interest in medical education research and innovation among the faculty by highlighting examples of good medical education research and innovations in medical education.\u00a0 The 9th round of ADE medical education research and innovation grants will be awarded in\u00a0June\u00a02012.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/faculty.med.virginia.edu\/facultyaffairs\/files\/2015\/04\/2012PosterSessionComposite2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-1795 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/faculty.med.virginia.edu\/facultyaffairs\/files\/2015\/04\/2012PosterSessionComposite2.jpg\" alt=\"2012PosterSessionComposite2\" width=\"600\" height=\"257\" srcset=\"https:\/\/med.virginia.edu\/faculty-affairs\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/458\/2015\/04\/2012PosterSessionComposite2.jpg 600w, https:\/\/med.virginia.edu\/faculty-affairs\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/458\/2015\/04\/2012PosterSessionComposite2-300x129.jpg 300w, https:\/\/med.virginia.edu\/faculty-affairs\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/458\/2015\/04\/2012PosterSessionComposite2-467x200.jpg 467w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"fontsize10\"><em>Shown above (right) is Dr. Molly Cooke, the 2012 Anne L. Brodie Award winner.\u00a0To her right is Dr. Gene Corbett.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The poster session and reception were organized by Bob Bloodgood on behalf of the Academy of Distinguished Educators, with assistance from Elizabeth Graham, Ashley Ayers, Gretchen Arnold, and Wilma Lynch. Dr. Eugene Corbett coordinated the activities associated with the Anne L.
