As Chair of the Department of Family, Community and Mental Health Systems, I worked to facilitate student and faculty endeavors in education, research and practice. My research activities are facilitated by my role as a faculty associate of the Southeastern Rural Mental Health Research Center. I am a Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing and serve on the editorial boards of Archives of Psychiatric Nursing, American Journal of Community Psychology, and the Japanese Journal of Nursing and Health Sciences.
