{"id":1730897,"date":"2025-06-17T11:16:38","date_gmt":"2025-06-17T15:16:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/med.virginia.edu\/faculty\/faculty-listing\/am3xa\/"},"modified":"2026-04-07T06:41:05","modified_gmt":"2026-04-07T10:41:05","slug":"am3xa","status":"publish","type":"faculty-listing","link":"https:\/\/med.virginia.edu\/faculty\/faculty-listing\/am3xa\/","title":{"rendered":"Manichaikul, Ani W."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>My research lies in the areas of statistical genetics and genetic epidemiology with an emphasis on 1) analysis of genome-wide association studies in the multi-ethnic cohort studies, 2) gene-based analysis of rare variants, 3) quantitative trait mapping in experimental crosses, and 4) translational research efforts bridging mouse and human studies.&#013;&#010;&#013;&#010;I am actively involved in genome-wide association analysis of cardiovascular and pulmonary phenotypes performed through the Multi-Ethnic Study of Atherosclerosis (MESA). We are performing post-GWAS research, including gene-environment interaction studies, fine mapping studies, and candidate gene investigations with collaborators who are experts in animal models and in vitro studies of more focused genetic pathways.
