I grew up in rural Amherst, Virginia, so taking care of patients at Crossroads Family Practice in North Garden feels like home to me!  My clinical scope extends from caring for the very young to the very old, including women’s health and prenatal care. I see patients with a wide variety of acute and chronic conditions, but I have a special interest in obesity management, weight loss, and helping people quit smoking.  In my practice of both the science and art of medicine, I look to the most current, best-evidenced practices shown to improve patient outcomes while also considering the interests, goals, and resources of the patient sitting in front of me.

My academic interests focus on scholarship and resident education.  I am an Assistant Residency Program Director for the UVA Family Medicine Residency Program.  Additionally, I am a clinical editor for a leading online evidence-based clinical reference tool.

My academic training began at the College of William and Mary, where I met my husband. From there, he and I moved to New Jersey, just outside of Philadelphia, where we entered into an MD/PhD program at Jefferson Medical College/Thomas Jefferson University College of Graduate Studies. Seven years later, we found ourselves happily moving to Charlottesville for residency training at UVA, and we’ve been here ever since! Charlottesville has been an idyllic place to raise our family and we look forward to many more years of enjoying all that it has to offer – from the restaurants that rival those of big cities to the beautiful wineries and endless opportunities for outdoor adventures!
