Time to Thrive Award
In recognition of the immense demands placed on clinician-teachers, the greatest gift Peter would wish to bestow upon a colleague would be to “give them time.”
Whether through a retreat in nature, pursuing personal creative projects, or simply finding a quiet space to think, reflect, and recharge, the fund enables faculty to take a breath and return to their work with renewed energy, purpose, and ideas.
What would you do with time away from the day-to-day to connect with your inner wisdom, heart-felt passion, or unique energy? What space, instruction, materials or environment would enable you to dive into an idea or project that inspires you?
- We anticipate twice yearly disbursement in the spring and fall.
- The submission deadline for the spring disbursement is June 1.
- The submission deadline for the fall disbursement is October 1.
- The award does not pay for the faculty member’s time off, but CME time can be used for it.
- Award funds can be used for needs such as travel, accommodation, materials, and training fees.
- Requests up to $2000 will be considered.
- While we recognize that a faculty member’s wellbeing is closely connected to that of their family, the intent of this award is to support individual experiences that enhance personal wellbeing and professional development. As such, we are unable to fund family-related activities. However, we can offer limited support for childcare assistance for your partner at home.
- Applications will be reviewed and award recipients selected by the Peter Ham Memorial Fund Committee.
Any faculty member in the UVA Department of Family Medicine.
