• Springtime on Grounds at the University of VirginiaComplete and submit your financial aid application documents for the next academic year.  These documents include the FAFSA, the UVA School of Medicine application, and all signed tax returns and W2s.  If you’re not sure whose information to submit, please see our How To Apply page.
  • We recommend that incoming students complete the FAFSA by March 15th, to ensure that the information is transmitted to the UVA School of Medicine by the priority application deadline.
  • Incoming first-year students should submit their application by April 1st, and will receive a preliminary financial aid award letter before April 30th. Waitlisted students may submit their FAFSA and tax returns so that they can do the UVA financial aid application and be evaluated quickly once they receive an offer.
  • Returning students should submit their application by May 1st to ensure timely processing of their financial aid.

  • Fireworks at the RotundaStay in touch!  Make sure you keep your address updated in SIS so that we can contact you.  (Once logged in, click on the address you want to change, and click “edit.”)  The student bears the full responsibility for any consequences resulting from University communications misdirected or not received because of an incorrect address.
  • The preliminary award letter will contain instructions for requesting loan funds. Complete these instructions by July 1st to ensure your financial aid is applied as a credit on your tuition bill.  For help determining how much loan money you may need to request, you can complete our Budget Worksheet, or talk with your financial aid counselor.
  • If you are a first-time Direct Loan borrower, be sure to follow the instructions to sign a Master Promissory Note and complete the entrance counseling.  You must complete these before your loans will disburse (late July at the latest).
  • Official award letters will be emailed in July, and will contain additional information about disbursement.
  • Student Accounts will email students regarding their online tuition bills in mid-July.  Most students, if they have completed their financial aid on time, will see their financial aid reflected on their tuition bill.  However, if your tuition bill does not include your financial aid, then the amount of aid indicated for fall on your official award letter may be subtracted from the amount due. Fall tuition is due in August.
