I have lived in Virginia for most of my life. I grew up in the southeastern part of the state and left for college at Davidson, where I graduated with a degree in French in 2010. I moved to Washington, D.C., after graduation to teach math and reading at a public elementary school, and though there were aspects of the job I enjoyed, I soon came to realize it was the not the career for me. After exploring various opportunities, I began shadowing a family physician, and this experience led me to pursue a career in medicine myself. More specifically, I became interested in primary care and its challenges and opportunities. I returned to my hometown of Williamsburg, Va., to complete my medical school prerequisites, during which time I also worked as a scribe in the Emergency Department. This job led me to desire a career in primary care even more. I love the patient-doctor relationships that can be forged in this field, as both parties work together over many years. I also desire the variety that a primary care doctor sees on a daily basis; this challenging environment will help me to continue to grow as a physician throughout my career.<\/p>\n

When I\u2019m not working and studying, I participate in any sport I can find time for. I am also very lucky in that all four of my siblings and my parents live within a few hours of me, so we try to get together as much as possible. I have also absolutely fallen in love with Charlottesville, and I try to take advantage of its beautiful scenery, restaurants, and activities as much as possible.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
