Hey y’all! Where I\u2019m from is kind of a complicated question, but the simplest answer is Virginia Beach, Virginia. My dad was in the Navy for most of my life; so, I spent a lot of time living in Japan and Singapore. We returned to the US my senior year of high school, and I attended Old Dominion University for undergrad. I graduated in May 2015, with a B.S. in Health Sciences with a focus on Public Health. During my gap years, I worked as a substitute teacher and medical scribe and volunteered as an EMT.<\/p>\n
My passion for primary care stems from my interest in taking care of communities. During my internship with the Center for Global Health at ODU, I had the opportunity to create a health education program for a nonprofit school in South Sudan. That experience taught me the importance of education and empowerment in improving both individual and community health. Reading about the students and faculty for the GSP program was a huge factor in my decision to attend UVA. The GSP family has been so supportive and truly fosters an environment that promotes the ideals of community health. I am so excited to continue to grow and learn with my GSP family and the rest of our class. My experiences in Charlottesville and at UVA have been amazing so far. In the next few years, I hope to explore the rest of the city and surrounding area and continue to make deep and lasting friendships.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
