Throughout middle and high school, I spent a lot of time attending Special Olympics events and working with other organizations that support people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. These experiences led me to value working with communities that can go overlooked by society and continue to shape my thoughts on providing healthcare today. I studied International Affairs and Spanish at James Madison University and have a Master&#8217;s in Public Health from Emory University. My nascent career in global health took a turn toward clinical medicine when I spent two years serving as a Peace Corps Volunteer in an agricultural district of Mozambique. Life in a medium-sized town in a country with relatively few resources taught me much about how limited access to quality healthcare affects individuals and entire communities, and it convinced me I wanted to spend my career improving community health one patient at a time as a clinician.<\/p>\n<p>In my free time I enjoy reading, painting, and dabbling in just about any sport.
