Born, raised, and educated in Charlottesville, Virginia, I am very excited to spend four more years seeing my hometown through the lens of a medical student.\u00a0 I graduated in 2018 from UVA with a BS Ed. in Kinesiology, but outside the classroom was where the richest aspects of my college education took place.\u00a0 I was a member of The Virginia Gentlemen, UVA\u2019s first a cappella group, and was lucky enough to go on four international tours with the group reaching audiences from Hong Kong to London.\u00a0 In the back half of my undergrad years, I worked with the Birdsong Pediatric Clinic at UVA to increase student involvement and volunteer opportunities surrounding issues of social determinants of health by referring patients and their families to resources in the Charlottesville community.<\/p>\n
After college, I worked as a clinical research coordinator in the Department of Neonatology at UVA while I applied to medical school.\u00a0 Although I learned a lot about the nitty-gritty details that go into clinical trials, my love of long term relationship building and education are what drove me to the path of becoming a physician.\u00a0 Growing up as the son of a pediatrician, I was able to see the incredible value that is inherent in primary care, and the impact that you are able to have on your patient\u2019s lives both in and out of the clinic.\u00a0 That being said, my medical interests very much lie in pediatrics and more specifically LGBTQ health and issues related to adolescent addiction.\u00a0 While these may change and develop as the years go by, I am sure I can count on being driven to serve my patients in a way that increases their agency toward their health and wellness.\u00a0 The GSP program was a big draw for me as I decided to remain in C’ville for my medical education, and I am so glad that I did.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
