I grew up in Fairfax, Virginia and attended the University of Virginia for my undergraduate degree where I graduated with a dual degree in Biomedical Engineering and Physics in 2020. After graduating, I began working at the United States Patent and Trademark Office as a Biomedical Patent Examiner reviewing medical device patents. During that time, I discovered that I was more interested in pursuing a career in clinical medicine than engineering, and began studying for my MCAT. This eventually led me to apply to medical school, and return to UVA as a member of the medical school class of 2026.<\/p>\n
Throughout my life, I have been interested in global health and current events due to my parents’ experience as immigrants from Afghanistan and France, and the presence of family members scattered across the globe. I also have a passion for community building, and relish in opportunities that allow me to build deep, long-lasting relationships with others. As a result, a career in primary care seemed like the perfect fit for me, as primary care would allow me to provide longitudinal care to a broad spectrum of people, and address health concerns within my own community and across the globe.<\/p>\n
Through the Generalist Scholars Program, I hope to deepen my understanding of primary care and connect with other caring individuals that will enhance me as a person and professional. I am particularly interested in working with refugee populations, as well as Muslim and LGBTQ+ communities, and hope to dedicate a part of my career to serving populations experiencing armed conflict, disaster, and\/or discrimination after medical school.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
