Once you have identified a strain for sperm cryopreservation, you should test 2 adult (3 to 6 months) males to determine their fertility. Using experienced males who have already impregnated females and rested for two weeks gets the project off to a smooth start. Two males will have to be transferred to our animal protocol (3520) and room (OMS 1843), but the per diem will be charged to your account. You should send an email to CCM director to ask for a permission for mouse transfer followed by submitting a CCM transfer form.
After we complete the sperm cryopreservation in 10 straws, we will thaw 1-2 straws to check for recovery and report the result back to you.
