Mulholland Teaching Award – Housestaff

Each year the medical students acknowledge the educational contribution of our Housestaff by providing teaching awards for residents and fellows. These awards are a very important part of their effort to enhance the quality of our training programs and to recognize excellence in our trainees.
The award process is initiated by nominations from students. The Mulholland Society polls the 3rd and 4th year classes for names of housesaff who have been outstanding teachers or have been particularly helpful to them in their development as clinicians.

Timeline
January 31st – All nominations due
February – Portfolios due from the Trainee’s Program
April and May – Awards presented

Students should nominate the one resident who rises above all others in their demonstration of excellence of teaching. In order to be considered, nominations here must include a letter of support from the nominating student. The letter will be shared with the Trainee’s Program who will make the decision to pursue submission of a full application packet for consideration. This student letter will be given the most weight by the Review Committee. It should, therefore, contain specific and compelling examples of teaching excellence as demonstrated by the Trainee. Letters should not exceed two pages in length. They should be addressed to the Mulholland Review Committee. They can be signed electronically.
