{"id":1288,"date":"2018-10-24T10:58:31","date_gmt":"2018-10-24T14:58:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/med.virginia.edu\/kenworthy-lab\/?page_id=1288"},"modified":"2021-04-29T09:55:17","modified_gmt":"2021-04-29T13:55:17","slug":"home","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/med.virginia.edu\/kenworthy-lab\/","title":{"rendered":"Home"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We are an interdisciplinary research team at the University of Virginia working on two overarching goals. \u00a0One is to understand the role of membrane \u00a0microdomains such as lipid rafts and caveolae in health and disease. \u00a0The second is studying the role of intracellular protein dynamics and complex formation in autophagy, a housekeeping mechanism used by cells to maintain homeostasis in times of starvation and stress.\u00a0We address these questions using a combination of live cell imaging, cell biology, biophysics, and biochemical approaches.\u00a0We collaborate extensively with \u00a0mathematicians, physical chemists\u00a0 and \u00a0clinicians to understand these processes more holistically.
