On-line Testing

How to reset the student exam record, so the student can get back in the exam after having a computer problem.

Answer:

Go to Faculty Toy Box > On-line Testing Center > Select the course > Exams That Are Open and Underway > Feedback > Click the “Reset Time” link for the student. It reset the student start time to “Now” and the student has the original allocated time for the exam. Alternatively, if the student has answered a few questions, you can click on the “Delete response” link to let the student have a fresh start. If the exam has been closed, you can edit the exam “End Date” field via “Edit Metadata” link to reopen it.

The students can’t access the exam that has been opened.

Answer:

Step 1: Go to Faculty Toy Box > On-line Testing Center > Select the course > Exams that are open and underway, check if you can locate the exam for the current school year and make sure the Start and End date time are correct by clicking on “Edit Metadata” link.

Step 2: If only one or a few students don’t have the link to the exam, check Oasis course roster for the school year to make sure the student(s) are on the course roster.

A student received an error message “You may not take this exam or view the exam feedback from the computer you are using…..”

Answer:

Make sure the student is at the correct location for the exam, then go to  Faculty Toy Box > On-line Testing Center > Select the course > Exams that are open and underway > Edit Metadata, confirm if exam location setting is correct. If all above are correct, it can be a newly added IP range that is not in our exam database. Ask the student send the error message and his/her IP address (find IP address by clicking on the link below) to mededweb@virginia.edu. The student may need to take the exam from another computer. http://www.med-ed.virginia.edu/showip.cfm
