Hyaluronan is a ubiquitous acidic glycosaminoglycan of the vertebrate extracellular matrix that is particularly enriched in connective tissues, the vasculature and the cartilage. It modulates a broad range of tissue remodeling processes, including wound healing, embryological development, angiogenesis and tumorigenesis.
