Luminescence

Monitoring tumor growth and effect of drugs with luciferase

tumor inhibition by trametinib and Gemcitibine shown by luminescence

MPanc96 pancreatic tumor cells (10e6) expressing luciferase were injected into athymic nude mice, and treate with gemcitibine or MEK 1/2 inhibitor trametinib.
The tumor cells grow in the liver, and their  growth was quantitated by luminescence of luciferase.  Although the majority of tumor is near the edge of the liver, tumor cells within the liver are also measured.

A. Representative bioluminescent images at the start and end dosing of dosing and gross images of murine livers at necropsy for MPanc96 injected mice under each treatment condition.

B. Comparison of the fold change in average radiance at 21 days under each treatment condition. Significance of between-group comparisons is denoted by * p<0.05, ** p<0.01, *** p<0.001.
