We serve the medical needs of Virginia and large portions of the surrounding states. The <a href=\"https:\/\/med.virginia.edu\/internal-medicine-residency\/why-uva\/\">Internal Medicine Residency Program\u00a0<\/a>is one of the strongest in the nation and attracts a large number of highly competitive applicants from across the country.\u00a0 Interacting with over 100 internal medicine and other highly qualified residents managing a wide variety of cases in a state of the art academic setting provides ample opportunity for our trainees to advance their knowledge and teaching skills.<\/p>\n<p>Based in Charlottesville, Virginia, the University of Virginia Health System embodies the leadership and inventiveness personified by its founder, Thomas Jefferson.
