UVA Nephrology is the referral center for a large geographic area expanding to the borders with North Carolina, West Virginia and Tennessee and also northern Virginia. The clinical services include in-center hemodialysis in 11 different facilities, short daily home hemodialysis, nocturnal hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, transplant nephrology, outpatient general nephrology and outpatient subspecialty clinics for onconephrology and stone diseases.\u00a0\u00a0 Recognizing the growing burden of and the challenges involve in caring for individuals with chronic kidney diseases, we have developed new approaches in patient education and assisting them in choosing the renal replacement therapy options that suits them the best and transitioning them into their new life style.<\/p>\n<p>The Division and CIIR are composed of 23 full-time Clinical and 4 advanced practitioners. We are working collaboratively to improve patient care and outcomes, achieve excellence in our scholarly and research endeavors, and nurture innovation in our labs and classrooms.
