Appreciation for the influence of gut microbiome on the brain during stress and depression has increased in recent years; however, the underlying mechanisms of gut microbiome involvement remain unclear. As a postdoctoral researcher in the Gaultier and Kipnis labs, my work focuses on identifying metabolic and immune mediators of the gut-brain axis during depression. I use a diverse set of techniques including behavioral assays, transcriptome sequencing, and imaging to ask targeted questions about gut microbiome influence on cell types within the brain.
