Using a novel murine model of mild subarachnoid hemorrhage that allows evaluation of late cognitive effects, we have been able to show that systemic neutrophils play a role in impaired long term potentiation and memory function after SAH. We therefore have recently focused our attention on elucidating changes to the hippocampal memory mechanism after SAH. Our ultimate goal is to develop targets for treatments in patients with SAH exploiting inflammatory mechanisms.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>SECONDARY<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><em>Cognitive outcomes associated with acute inflammatory changes in aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage.<\/em><\/strong> We have developed a parallel human research program to validate mechanisms uncovered by the murine model.
