Drs. Min Park and Yashar Kalani join our neurosurgery faculty as Associate Professors with subspecialty focus in cerebrovascular and endovascular neurosurgery. Dr. Park earned his MD from Indiana University and completed his neurological surgery residency at the University of California San Diego Medical Center. He served as a lieutenant commander and staff neurosurgeon at the Naval Medical Center San Diego, completed an endovascular neurosurgery fellowship at the Barrow Neurological Institute in Phoenix, and served on the neurosurgery faculty at the University of Utah. Dr. Kalani earned his PhD in Chemistry from the California Institute of Technology and his MD from Stanford University School of Medicine. He completed his neurosurgery residency at the Barrow Neurological Institute, where he also completed fellowship training in complex spine, cerebrovascular and skull base surgery and endovascular neurosurgery. Dr. Kalani also served on the neurosurgery faculty at the University of Utah. Drs. Park and Kalani’s expertise helps fulfill our vision to provide the highest quality stroke care for our patients, and support our Comprehensive Stroke Center designation as a top center for care of patients with neurovascular disorders. Both are capable of treating the most challenging conditions by using open and endovascular techniques and bring new research interests to UVA that have the real potential to move the entire field forward.
