Office for Research

The Office for Research supports and promotes basic, clinical, and translational investigation in the School of Medicine (SOM) and facilitates research synergies across UVA.

The office works closely with the SOM Office of Grants and Contracts, which helps faculty and administrators apply for and manage sponsored awards in support of the research and other scholarly activities of our investigator community.

On May 28, 2019 Commander Christopher T. Steele, PhD, Director of the Military Operational Medicine Research Program, presented a seminar describing his program’s research funding and opportunities for faculty and trainees.

The MOMRP provides funding for medical research to protect the health, support readiness and sustain/enhance performance of warfighters faced with environmental extremes, insufficient nutrition, physical degradation, sleep and circadian disruption, toxic chemical exposures, blast and physical injuries and acute & chronic psychological stress.
