Applicants interested in applying for residency, whether current medical students, international medical graduates, or previously unmatched applicants should apply directly through <a href=\"https:\/\/students-residents.aamc.org\/attending-medical-school\/how-apply-residency-positions\/applying-residencies-eras\/\">ERAS<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>To be considered, an applicant must have completed their ERAS application process, including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Completed ERAS application form<\/li>\n<li>School transcript<\/li>\n<li>Photograph<\/li>\n<li>3 letters of recommendation<\/li>\n<li>Personal statement<\/li>\n<li>Dean\u2019s letter<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>UVA Orthopaedic Surgery is participating in the <a href=\"https:\/\/students-residents.aamc.org\/applying-residencies-eras\/supplemental-eras-application\">ERAS Supplemental Application\/Signaling<\/a> system this year.<\/p>\n<p>The deadline for completed applications is Wednesday, September 30, 2026 at 12 noon ET.<\/p>\n<h3>In-Person interview dates for 2026\/2027 are scheduled for:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>The weekend of January 9-10, 2027<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Residency Interview Process<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Interviews are held on Saturday mornings, and applicants should arrive in Charlottesville on the Friday evening before as the interview day starts at 6:00AM.\u00a0 We usually hold an informal social event the evening before interviews.\u00a0 More information will be provided with the interview invitation.<\/p>\n<p>Interviews take place at the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery Administrative Offices located in the new UVA Orthopedic Center at 2280 Ivy Rd, Charlottesville, VA 22903.\u00a0\u00a0A photo of the front of the new building and map of Ivy Road are available below.<\/p>\n<p>After a brief introduction to the University of Virginia Orthopaedic Residency by our Chairman, Program Director, and chief residents, applicants will be divided into two groups so that one group will start interviews while the other takes a resident-lead tour of the hospital, clinics, and facilities.\u00a0 The groups will alternate in mid-morning and the interview day will end around lunchtime.<\/p>\n<p>Since 2009, we have utilized a station-based interview format to limit the redundancy between rooms and anticipate continuing this format moving forward.\u00a0 Stations are listed below.<\/p>\n<p>Interview Stations<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Chairman&#8217;s Room<\/li>\n<li>Program Directors&#8217;
