class=\"wp-caption-text\">Dr. Anne Mills giving a speech at USCAP 2025.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The meeting kicked off Sunday with Anne Mills moderating the Arthur Purdy Stout Society of Surgical Pathology (APSS) companion society meeting, which included the happy announcement that our own PGY2 resident Oleksandr (Alex) Yanko received the society\u2019s annual Travel Award in support of his away election studying lymphoproliferative disorders of the skin with Alejandro Gru: Congratulations Dr. Yanko!\u00a0 Later in the morning, Dr. Julie Fanburg-Smith co-led the companion session for the International Society of Bone Soft Tissue.<\/p>\n<p>Monday morning saw residents and fellows presenting on a host of interesting topics in the Stowell-Orbison Poster Session.\u00a0 Linglei Ma\u2019s mentees, PGY2 Alex Yanko and PGY1 Mahsa Hajizadeh, shared their work on ATRX in anogenital malignant melanomas and p16 in inflammatory dermatoses.\u00a0 PGY2 Kyle Carlson and Gyn\/Breast fellow Eyas Alzayadneh shared results from endometrial carcinoma collaborations with Dr. Mills studying FGFR2 mutations and tumors with gastrointestinal-type morphology.\u00a0 Working under the guidance of Julie Fanburg-Smith, PGY-3 Andrew Biesemier presented on deep juvenile xanthogranuloma, which was also selected for a prestigious moderated poster session!\u00a0 Dr. Fanburg-Smith\u2019s study on methylome profiling in uterine smooth muscle tumors was also featured in the Gyn platforms sessions, provoking an excellent discussion from the engaged audience.\u00a0 In the afternoon, PGY3 Natalie Hillerson shared her project mentored by Robin LeGallo on autopsy and emotional wellness, while Dr. Mills presented two courses on gynecologic carcinoma biomarkers.\u00a0 The day culminated with a raucous Matt McCord\u2019s session on molecular predictors of meningioma recurrence and Jeffrey Craig\u2019s talk on leichmaniasis in bone marrow evaluation.\u00a0 Trainees continued to shine, with medical student Erin Saunders delivering a superb platform presentation on NOTCH loss-of-function mutations in lung carcinoma and medical student Bri Wilson presenting a poster on the microRNA effector enzyme AGO2 in endometrial carcinoma.
