Madhusmita Misra, MBBS, MD, MPH, Department of Pediatrics Chair

Dr. Madhusmita (“Madhu”) Misra, MBBS, MD, MPH, serves as the Benjamin Armistead Shepherd Professor and Chair of the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Virginia School of Medicine and Physician-in-Chief of UVA Health Children’s. A nationally recognized pediatric endocrinologist, she brings decades of clinical, research, and leadership experience, including nearly 25 years at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School, where she held multiple senior leadership roles and advanced faculty development initiatives. Dr. Misra is known for her commitment to delivering high-quality, compassionate, and family-centered care, as well as for her significant contributions to pediatric research, supported by longstanding NIH funding and more than 200 peer-reviewed publications. She has also held national leadership positions, including President of the Pediatric Endocrine Society, and is widely respected for her dedication to mentoring the next generation of clinicians and scientists while advancing innovation and excellence across pediatric medicine.
