{"id":426,"date":"2015-11-06T14:44:47","date_gmt":"2015-11-06T19:44:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/med.virginia.edu\/perceptual-studies\/?page_id=426"},"modified":"2025-07-01T11:16:21","modified_gmt":"2025-07-01T15:16:21","slug":"services-we-do-not-provide","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/med.virginia.edu\/perceptual-studies\/resources\/services-we-do-not-provide\/","title":{"rendered":"Services We Do Not Provide"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #000080\"><strong>Because of the size and scope of our research division we have had to make choices about what services we can and cannot offer.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #db6825\">Please refer to the list below for clarity regarding services that we are\u00a0<em>not<\/em> able to offer here at the UVA-Division of Perceptual Studies:<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>We are not able to offer\u00a0therapeutic services via telephone, email or correspondences.\u00a0 Nor are we able to provide counseling services\u00a0by telephone, email or correspondence to persons made anxious by unusual experiences.\u00a0 When the experience falls within the scope of our research, \u00a0we offer the best advice we can during interviews, or perhaps during correspondence. If we are aware of a\u00a0well-qualified psychiatrist, clinical psychologist, or other counselor who may be appropriate for a particular inquirer, we may recommend this person be contacted.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>We are not able to be interviewed over the telephone or answer lists of questions about our research, for student papers or by the media. Many questions can be answered by a careful\u00a0reading of this website.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>We are not able to\u00a0assist students with their papers beyond guiding them toward appropriate literature and research.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>We are not able to recommend psychics or hypnotists who claim to regress persons to previous lives. See <strong><a class=\"internal-link\" title=\"Concerns about Hypnotic Regression\" href=\"https:\/\/med.virginia.edu\/perceptual-studies\/concerns-about-hypnotic-regression\/\">Concerns about Hypnotic Regression.<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>We are not able to read or comment on unsolicited manuscripts.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>We are not able to offer courses in paranormal phenomena.
