Congratulations to Alisha Sahu, a third year neuroscience major in Doug Bayliss’s Lab<\/a>, for being one of the 45 students to receive a Harrison Undergraduate Research Award<\/a> this year! The Harrison Awards program partners students with a faculty mentor for research and provides up to $4000 of funding to pursue new research projects that the students have designed.\u00a0\u00a0In order to be considered for this award, students must develop and submit detailed research proposals for funding to be reviewed by\u00a0the Faculty Senate Research, Teaching and Scholarship\u00a0committee. Under the leadership of their faculty mentors, students have to formulate a research question and propose methods for analyzing it.\u00a0 This year’s selection process was highly competitive. The committee received 78 applications for review-many of which were worthy of funding.\u00a0It is apparent that Alisha’s application was a winner for clearly\u00a0pushing the bounds of knowledge, careful preparation and rigorous design!<\/p>\n
