Dr. Conaway has been a faculty member in the UVA School of Medicine since 1996 when he was one of the first faculty members hired in the newly formed Department of Health Evaluation Sciences.<\/p>\n<p>During his time at the UVA School of Medicine, Dr. Conaway has established a number of collaborations in basic, clinical and translational research, primarily in the areas of Pediatrics, Neurology, Cardiovascular Medicine, Diabetes and Cancer.\u00a0 \u00a0While at UVA, Dr. Conaway has been\u00a0 the primary statistician for more than 100 externally funded grants, including 6 Program Project (P01) grants\u00a0 and 2 Center (P30) grants.\u00a0 He\u00a0 was the Principal Investigator for two R01 grants (2010-2019) developing methods for the design of early stage trials.\u00a0 \u00a0 In addition to trial design,\u00a0 Dr. Conaway has done methodological work in developing reference centiles and in methods for handling missing data.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Conaway served as a member of the School of Medicine Promotion and Tenure Committee from 2003-2012 ,\u00a0 the Provost P&amp;T Committee from 2012-2015 and as Chair of the Departmental P&amp;T committee from 2011-2022.\u00a0 He has served on numerous study sections for the NIH, including as a member of the Clinical Oncology Study Section from 2010-2014 and for NASA&#8217;s Human Research Program.\u00a0 He is a member of the FDA Oncologic Drug Advisory Committee (2021-2025).<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Conaway was elected a Fellow of the American Statistical Association in 2012.<\/p>\n<p>Professor<br \/>\nOffice of the Chair<br \/>\nPh.D., Statistics, University of Minnesota, 1985<\/p>\n<p>P.O.
