{"id":4494,"date":"2025-02-03T09:28:40","date_gmt":"2025-02-03T14:28:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/med.virginia.edu\/physiology-biophysics\/?p=4494"},"modified":"2025-02-03T09:28:40","modified_gmt":"2025-02-03T14:28:40","slug":"dr-anne-kenworthy-appointed-as-vice-chair-of-research-for-mpbp","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/med.virginia.edu\/physiology-biophysics\/2025\/02\/03\/dr-anne-kenworthy-appointed-as-vice-chair-of-research-for-mpbp\/","title":{"rendered":"Dr. Anne Kenworthy Appointed as Vice Chair of Research for MPBP"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">I am pleased to announce that our colleague\u00a0<b>Dr. Anne Kenworthy<\/b>\u00a0has been appointed as the\u00a0<b>Vice Chair of Research<\/b>\u00a0in the Department of Molecular Physiology and Biological Physics, effective February 1, 2025 \u2013 January 31, 2027.<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">Dr. Kenworthy is a senior faculty member in the department\u00a0and serves as the Associate Director of the Center for Membrane and Cell Physiology (CMCP).\u00a0She brings considerable leadership experience to this role through her service as chair of the departmental Promotion &amp; Tenure Committee, co-chair of faculty search committees for both the department and Center, and membership on the MPBP Chair Advisory Committee.\u00a0 She also is currently a member of the UVA Faculty Senate and is an alumna of UVA\u2019s Leadership in Academic Matters (LAM) program.<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">As Vice Chair of Research, Dr. Kenworthy will lead efforts to strengthen and expand the department\u2019s research enterprise, including:<\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li class=\"x_MsoNormal\">Identifying opportunities for growth and areas for improvement.<\/li>\n<li class=\"x_MsoNormal\">Spearheading initiatives to secure large research and training grants.<\/li>\n<li class=\"x_MsoNormal\">Organizing and overseeing the department\u2019s annual retreat activities.<\/li>\n<li class=\"x_MsoNormal\">Leading the annual promotion-tenure review process for junior faculty.<\/li>\n<li class=\"x_MsoNormal\">Advancing new initiatives to enhance the department\u2019s research mission.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">Dr. Kenworthy&#8217;s leadership and vision will be key in driving innovation and strengthening our collaborative research environment.
