The mission of UVA’s Plastic and Maxillofacial Surgery is to provide exceptional service through patient care, medical education, and scientific research that offers leadership in the practice of plastic surgery locally, nationally, and internationally.
To achieve this goal, we strive to provide collaborative, state-of-the-art clinical services to patients and conduct both teaching and research in the laboratory and patient care settings. We participate in and organize scientific conferences that further the excellence in the practice of plastic surgery and the treatment of the patient.
The University of Virginia Department of Plastic Surgery offers both an integrated and an independent residency program. Both programs are accredited and designed to provide a broad education in plastic surgery.
Mentorship in research is incredibly important. The UVA Plastic Surgery Residency Program has a strong research focus via our clinical rotation structure as well as the research that's already underway in the department.
