John Heineman

    John is originally from Grinnell, Iowa. He received high honors from the University of Iowa with a double major in biology and political science. After graduating, he worked as a field organizer on the 2008 Obama campaign. He received his MD from Oregon Health & Science University and served as class president. He received his MPH from Harvard University with a health policy focus. He returned home to complete general surgery residency at the University of Iowa.  His interests include health disparities and hand surgery. He is married to Lauren who is a pediatric genetic counselor at UVA. He enjoys trail running, bicycling, cooking and playing with his dog Herbert.
